About Rigtech

A natural progression

I grew up living and sailing on Pittwater, so I guess it was only natural that I went into boat building when I left school. Throughout the '70s and '80s, I was fortunate to work as a rigger in several Admiral's Cup and America's Cup campaigns. Keen to put the skills I had developed to work for all types of sailors, I started Phill Bate Yacht Works at Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club at Newport in 1989.

As yachting (and the yacht club) grew, so did Phill Bate Yacht Works. To reflect the ever-increasing sophistication of our business and our industry, we changed our name to Riggtech in 2003. We also decided to make the huge amount of knowledge we'd accumulated over the years available to sailors and homebuilders around the world via the worldwide web.

As you make your way through this site, you will come across a range of materials and services suitable for yachting or architectural applications. If you are after some specific fittings or items you want to purchase please contact us. Soon you will be able to purchase through our online shop. If you are seeking advice on any particular rigging or architectural issue, simply send us your question and we'll respond as soon as possible.

Alternatively, call the office and get the advice you want over the phone.

Best regards,

Phill Bate
